Skill development training for job role as “Ornamental Fish Technician” (25 Days)
About the course
The Agriculture skill council of India (ASCI) under the auspices of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India has identified the need for skill development in “Ornamental Fisheries”. The ASCI has developed standardized course contents termed as “Qualification Packs (QP)” that are delivered to the participants as per specified delivery methods termed as “National Occupational Standards (NOS)” considering the potential of livelihood generation and employment in this sector. The course is designed to skill persons of any level of education with such abilities that they could either plan to become self-employed or get employment in the field of ornamental fisheries. A candidate will be required to appear for an assessment test on the last date which is conducted by ASCI.
Course Contents
The QP consists of 100 hours of theory and 100 hours of practical classes as per the guidelines of ASCI and to be covered within 25 days. The important topics of training are:
- Identification of different ornamental fish species of commercial importance
- Tank fabrication and pond preparation activities
- Feeding regime and live feed preparatory methods
- Health management of ornamental fishes
- Breeding, culture and seed production
- Regulation of safety, hygiene and sanitation practices
- A government scheme for availing funding support
- Preparation of project reports for availing funding from developmental and financial institutions

Course fee
The training is completely free of cost including lodging and boarding if it is a government (NFDB) sponsored programme. The availability of a government-sponsored programme is not known in advance. However, a candidate may pre-register to be informed about these programmes. The course fee for self-finance programme is Rs. 25,000/- inclusive of lodging and boarding.
Benefits
A trainee will be receiving two certificates on successful completion of the training programme. The certificate of NFDB will entitle them to avail funding support as grant (Rs. 1.20 lakh to 12.50 lakh) from NFDB. Simultaneously, the certificate from ASCI will entitle to avail loan upto Rs. 10.00 lakh under Prime Minister MUDRA yojna from any nationalized bank.
